MY STORY

Behind the Words

I share a variety of interests. I've written about identity issues, intersectionality, addiction, women's rights, and international students in scholarly and research journals like The Different Truths, The Winnower, and SUURJ (Seattle University Undergraduate Research Journal). I was the first person to deliver news live on Seattle University's radio station, KXSU 102.1 FM in 2018. I've also written a variety of blogs for the Alfie Scholars, a cohort-style program at Seattle University that provides financial assistance and customized academic curriculum to transfer students from underrepresented backgrounds such as myself. You can read more about my journey here.

A lot of my writing and everyday conversations and thoughts revolve around social justice, empowering the voices of the underrepresented communities, and reflecting on ways in which we as a whole can be more caring and compassion towards one another. Some of my passion projects are: I've interviewed and written about Black women podcasters because I wanted to see them represented in the world of podcasting. Through these women, I quickly realized how much impact our voices can have on people. So for my senior capstone project, I co-created and launched "Project First-Gen" centering the stories of first-gen college students, faculty, and professionals of color.
